Why Choose Limestone Clinic Kingston for your Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) Psychotherapy Services?

At Limestone Clinic, we understand the overwhelming impact that OCD can have on your daily life. That's why we're excited to introduce our specialized therapy program tailored specifically for individuals struggling with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. So, WHAT SETS US APART?

Compassionate Understanding:

We get it - OCD isn't just about being neat and organized. It's about the distressing thoughts and rituals that can consume pretty much your every moment, and that isolate you from connecting with others. Our specialists are here to listen, understand, and provide the support you need to break away from OCD, for good.

Innovative Treatment Approaches:

We believe in thinking outside the box when it comes to OCD therapy. While Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is often quite effective, we also use additional evidence-based approaches to get the job done, tailored to your specific needs. From Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) to mindfulness techniques and bottom-up physiologically-based processing, we'll work together to find what works best for you. No cookie-cutter therapy here.

Personalized Care:

It's so obvious, but it's something a lot of treatment providers don't "get" - we won't treat you like you're the same as anyone else with OCD and like you should just follow some manual and feel better. We know that no two individuals with OCD are alike. That's why it's important for us to be kinda nosy and take the time we need to get to know you, your triggers, and the "why" behind your investment in therapy. Whether your OCD manifests in obsessive thoughts, compulsive rituals, or both, you'll receive treatment that has been uniquely personalized just for you, to help you optimize your path in getting back the control you want in your life.

Professional (but not stuffy) and Judgment-Free Environment:

Our team of specially selected, experienced therapists and administrative staff isn't just here to help; we're your allies in the fight against your OCD Ogre. We're not your typical stuffy therapists – we're approachable, genuine, and yes, even a little bit quirky. But don't let our humour fool you; we take OCD seriously, and we're dedicated to helping you kick your OCD's butt to the curb.

While we're sure you're an absolutely fabulous individual we'd love to hang out with if we weren't working with you as treatment providers, we're not the type of clinic to keep you on the couch for years discussing parental woes. Our goal? Get you in, help you make strides, feel better, and then, bid us adieu. Simple as that. (I mean, you can talk about your Lifegivers if you wanna...)

Experienced and Enthusiastic Therapists:

Our specialists have extensive experience in the treatment of OCD, and better more, they LOVE what they do! You will receive an experienced and enthusiastic therapist who is excited to help you reach your goals and level-up your life. Your therapist knows what works for OCD, and will teach it to you. One step at a time.

What to Expect from Psychotherapy for OCD:

  • Assessment: Your provider typically starts your treatment process with a thorough evaluation, commonly known as an intake appointment. This session serves to acquaint them with your unique story and delve into the history, characteristics, and intensity of your OCD Ogre's manifestations. It's our way of ensuring you're on the right path (and avoid wasting your time and money), and collecting the right information that is needed to craft a customized treatment roadmap tailored specifically to your needs.

  • Individual Therapy: You'll benefit from individual sessions with  our seasoned therapists specializied in conquering OCD challenges. These sessions offer a professional space for you to learn and grow. Your therapist will challenge you to resist staying in your comfort zone (which feeds that OCD Ogre) - instead, you'll start to shrink the Ogre by challenging the thoughts, emotions, and behaviours, little by little, enabling you to, over time, reclaim your environment without all those have-to's.

  • Skill-Building: Your treatment provider knows what works and will teach it to you, as well as the "why" behind the skills, so that you learn how to act as your OWN therapist and can reduce your need for therapy in the future. You'll understand the underpinnings of how to reduce OCD and its distress, skill by skill, and you'll practice in session and outside of session. Once you start to feel better, it may be time to bring up that you're considering firing us!

  • Relapse Prevention: Mastering the art of identifying and navigating potential relapse triggers is a pivotal aspect of an effective therapy undertaking. We'd be remiss in our duties to you if we didn't include in your treatment plan the necessity of equipping you with the tools to confidently address any inklings of relapse, should they arise in the future.

  • Ongoing Support: Your recovery doesn't end with therapy. We provide ongoing support and resources to help you maintain your progress. Once you have graduated from your treatment, you can sign up to be on your therapist's 'Walk-In' list, so that if she has a cancellation in her calendar, you can get notified and hop in for a session if the timing is right, to have a 'meeting of the minds' and keep things moving in the right direction for you in your recovery.
